Creating a temporary login URL

Sometimes, in order to investigate or resolve a support issue, we may need access to your WordPress admin area.

For security reasons, we will never ask you to send us your WordPress username or password by email or through a form.

Instead, we strongly recommend using a temporary access link created with a WordPress plugin. This allows you to grant us access safely, for a limited time, and with full control.

This guide explains why we take this approach and how to create a temporary access link step by step.

Using a temporary access link is the safest and most widely accepted way to grant WordPress access for support purposes.

This approach means:

✅ You never share passwords

✅ Access can be time-limited (for example, 24 or 48 hours)

✅ Access can automatically expire

✅ You can revoke access at any time

✅ There's a clear audit trail in your WordPress site

This protects:

  • Your website
  • Your customer data
  • Your hosting account
  • Both your team and ours

What we'll need from you

We will ask you to provide:

  • A temporary WordPress admin access link
  • Created using a temporary login plugin
  • Valid for a short period of time only

We do not need:

  • Your main admin username
  • Your password
  • FTP or hosting credentials (unless specifically requested later)

How to create a temporary login URL

Step 1: Install a temporary login plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New
  3. Search for a temporary login plugin. We recommend this one.
  4. Click Install, then Activate

Once the plugin is activated:

  1. Go to the plugin’s settings page (this is usually under Users, Tools, or Settings)
  2. Choose to create a new temporary login
  3. Set the role to Administrator
  4. Set an expiry time (we recommend 2 working days)
  5. Generate the temporary access link

The plugin will create a unique URL that allows login without a password.

  1. Copy the generated temporary login URL
  2. Paste it into the 'Temporary Login URL' field when raising a support ticket.

What happens next

We’ll only use the access to investigate and resolve the specific issue you raised.

We won’t make changes outside the scope of the support request without your permission.

Once the issue is resolved, you can:

  • Let the link expire automatically, or
  • Manually revoke it at any time via the plugin
